Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist
Allison has been working in the field of psychotherapy for over 21 years. She has a Masters in Educational Counselling and a Masters of Social Work. She is also a Board Certified Neurofeedback clinican. Allison specializes in working with a wide variety of conditions including anxiety disorders, phobias, PTSD and developmental trauma, depression, grief and loss and burnout. She has spent her career researching and training in a wide variety of approaches with the goal of helping people find true healing. She started her original company, Woodcrest Therapy Services, to allow more clients to have access to these approaches including: CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Sandtray Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, Biofeedback (e.g., heart rate variability), and Neurofeedback. She strongly believes that clients benefit most from a variety of treatments and uses a mind-brain based healing approach. Allison’s unique model involves combining some of these cutting edge therapy approaches with biofeedback. In her experience this helps clients to experience more successful outcomes than traditional therapy can offer on its own.
Allison is excited to be able to offer their clients even more options with the creation of the Ottawa Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy Centre (ONPC). She and Dr. Presniak created this new centre so that it can offer holistic, cutting edge, and a wide variety of treatment options to clients. She is pleased to be a part of one of the most innovative centres in Canada. As a Co-Owner of ONPC Allison co-manages the clinic, provides comprehensive intake and QEEG assessments, and also provides and oversees psychotherapy and neurotherapy services in the clinic. She is committed to advancing her own training in neurotherapy. She is board certified in neurofeedback, is one of the very few clinicians across Canada offering High Performance Neurofeedback (HPN), and has completed a broad scope of QEEG, neurofeedback, and neurostimulation training.
