Wendy is a Registered Psychotherapist who has trained in a variety of modalities, including psychotherapy, animal assisted therapies (with a special interest in equine assisted biofeedback), and neurofeedback. Her breadth of training has provided her opportunities to facilitate treatments such as the War Horse project (an equine based resiliency and recovery program for Canadian Forces members and first responders), equine therapy for children and families, and assisted in disaster relief during the Alberta Floods and in the Syrian refugee criss.
Wendy studied at the University of Calgary (teaching) and the University of Ottawa specializing in counselling and psychotherapy. Her graduate work focused on emotionally focused therapy, working with the Ottawa Couple and Family Institute (OCFI) at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. She completed a Traumatology Certificate through the Traumatology Institute in Toronto and has trained in both Alberta and Ontario for animal assisted therapy. She has also produced educational material for equine assisted therapy.
Approaches used by Wendy include attachment-based, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, Logotherapy and solution focused therapy. Wendy currently offers psychotherapy, neurotherapy and equine therapy for children and adults. Her psychotherapy approaches utilize attachment based, cognitive behavioural, interpersonal, logo therapy and solution focused therapy.
